Story before the task. Nowadays, we often hear about GREEN THINKING. But what does it actually mean? It may be surprising, but green thinking first and foremost means GREEN ACTION – how to properly manage the waste we generate. But what to do if you need to “dispose” of a car? And how can a car be “disposed of” at all? To find out, you should watch the video clip – Act Responsibly! (published at www.autoparstrade.lv and on SIA “Auto pārstrāde”'s Facebook page facebook.com/auto.parstrade). Cars that have served their time are called end-of-life vehicles. Every end-of-life vehicle contains hazardous substances (fuel, oils, coolants, and others). Therefore, an end-of-life vehicle is considered HAZARDOUS WASTE. It cannot simply be "thrown away". Proper action involves delivering it to specialized recycling companies authorized by the "State Environmental Service" for handling end-of-life vehicles. In these companies:

All hazardous components are separated;
Car windows are removed;
Large plastic parts are dismantled;
Tires are dismantled. After these steps, end-of-life vehicles are prepared for final recycling. Final recycling involves shredding the vehicles into small pieces using large metal shredders. The shredded metal pieces are ready to be sent to metal production plants to create new metal parts.
Task: Prepare one collective class visual work (drawing, applique, or video story) on the topic – “utilize correctly.” The work should reflect the entire car recycling process or any part of it. It is recommended to use visual descriptions or slogans. The work must include information about the school, class, and the number of students.

Competition registration: School representatives confirm participation by 15.11.2021 by sending a confirmation email to: [email protected], indicating the number of classes and students, and the delivery address for thank-you prizes for each participant.

Works should be sent to [email protected] or a notification given for physical collection. Each work must include information about the school, class, and number of students. Physically received works will be digitized and published together with digital submissions. Works are published in order of receipt. All works will be compiled and promoted on SIA “Auto pārstrāde”’s Facebook page facebook.com/auto.parstrade, inviting the public to "like" and share them.
